Friends Of the Tame Valley received some young saplings from City of Trees as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy to plant in the Tame Valley. They identified a small part of Jet Amber where these could be accommodated without impacting on other important natural habitats and have teamed up with Tameside Council‘s Greenspace Officers to help plant them on February 25th. The volunteers were joined by Andrew Gwynne MP along with Tameside Council’s Greenspace Officer, John Courtman at Jet Amber Fields planting over 200 saplings.

There was a mix of a mix of Oak, Rowan, Hawthorn and Hazel trees were planted at the event to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
