As clearance continues on Ashton Market Ground the traders that have been relocated are settling down in their new temporary home for the duration of the works. Some of the market kiosks have now been positioned in Fletcher Square to host businesses Alfs Shoe Repairs, Market Grounds Coffee and Wilsons Fruit and Veg.

In addition to those businesses in the kiosks the outdoor market traders have also been relocated to Market Street and Bow Street on the main market days of Tuesdays and Saturdays. From March the third Saturday of the month will introduce a new Ashton Artisan Market that will join traders in that area. March 15th will also see a special event around the indoor market and Fletcher Square area in partnership with Ashton Town Team. There will be entertainment, mascot characters and also the final weekend of the Magic Tenner promotion in the town centre which begins on March 1st. The council have recently amended parking charges on Church St 1 car park offering £1 for 3 hours, echoing the Old Cross Street option plus there is still free weekend parking on Union Street.
With the removal of the kiosks on the Market Square developer Caseys are set to begin works on the construction of the new canopy soon that will house fixed stall units and covered space for other traders. More details can be found at www.tameside.gov.uk/ashtontowncentre
