Tameside College celebrates the achievements of apprentices and employers with awards ceremony.

The college’s annual apprenticeship award evening, on Tuesday 28th January, took place in the lead up to National Apprenticeship Week 2025.

Apprentices were joined by their families for the special occasion, as well as employers who received a ‘great employer’ award. Each award winner was presented with a trophy and certificate.

Apprentice winners, who were rewarded for their hard work and success included Martha Purnell, who has progressed from Marple Hall School to a commis chef apprenticeship with local restaurant, The Fisherman’s Table.

Another apprentice who received an award was Harry Stent, who is now working as an engineering technician apprentice with Louvolite, after progressing from West Hill School.

There were also ‘great employer’ award winners, one of these was Hyde Group, who were commended for supporting apprentices from the college for over 20 years and fostering the growth of their careers.

The awards ceremony forms part of the college’s National Apprenticeship Week 2025 celebrations, which aim to highlight the benefits of apprenticeships to potential students and employers.

Throughout the week, which begins on Monday 10th February, Tameside College has organised a variety of activities for students and employers. Apprenticeship success stories will also be shared throughout the week.

During the event, Carl Shaw, assistant principal, said: “Tonight, we celebrate the incredible achievements of our apprentices and the vital support from their employers, skills coaches and families. Apprenticeships are an increasingly valued path for school leavers, offering real world experience and career progression. At Tameside College, we’re proud to lead the way in providing top-quality education and training in state of the art facilities. I’d like to thank all those who contribute to the success of our apprentices, from employers to parents and congratulate both our apprentices and ‘great employers’ on their achievements. We’re incredibly proud of you all.”
