Ashton Paint Jam brought a burst of colour and creativity as Ashton hosted its first ever Street Art Festival, on Saturday 18th May.

The ‘Ashton Paint Jam’ was a fantastic and fun one-day event bringing together some of the UK’s top street artists in Ashton, giving everyone the unique opportunity to have a front row seat to witness the creation of world-class street art. Organised by Art Battle MCR, the event has been fully funded from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) for Communities and Place for the Ashton Creative Improvement District awarded to Tameside Council.

Curated by internationally renowned street artist Jay Sharples, over twenty of the UK’s top street artists, converged on Ashton to transform the hoardings outside the town hall into a dynamic outdoor art gallery.

The day also featured live music from local DJs, tantalizing treats from independent food, and activities for all ages. Children could also unleash their creativity with supervised spray-painting sessions, while thrilling break-dancing and skateboarding performances provided entertainment for the whole family.
