On Sunday 3rd August 2025, the St. Peter’s Community Gathering hosted the Annual FREE Family Fun Day at Oxford Park, funded by Jigsaw Homes.

Families enjoyed the fun day with bouncy castles, a magician, and various stalls. The face-painter and henna painter were kept busy all afternoon decorating hundreds of hands and faces with their beautiful designs. The volunteers from the LEAP Children’s and Family Centre kept the children entertained with their craft and bird box feed stall and there was live music throughout the afternoon. Everything was free for families including refreshments (hot drinks, juice, samosas, hot dogs) and a welcome free ice cream for every child!

Deputy Madam Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Helen Bowden and her consort also attended along with Ms Endeavour UK Great Britain – Leanne Nuttall. Organisers also thanked Hyde Fundraises for making the afternoon extra special for the children with Wolverine and R2-D2.
Stalls included LEAP, Be Well Tameside, Samson Boxing Gym, Anmol Cancer Support Group, Tameside Scouts, St. James’ Church, and local entrepreneurs offering kids accessories, toys and clothes. The Tameside Police Panda showed the children behind the scenes of a Police van.

Minaz Aslam, from Jigsaw Homes said: “It was another busy successful event for our families and the fun day was attended by around 1000 people. It was rewarding to see lots of happy faces and the whole community enjoying the day and engaging with each other at this happy and inclusive event”.
Organisers say huge thank you to the Community Gathering volunteers, the volunteers at LEAP, the staff at Active Oxford Park, GMP Tameside and Tameside Council for their support. Together they all helped make the fun day a huge success.
