Carnival fever is set to return to Denton this September in the town’s first carnival parade since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Denton Carnival will take place on Sunday 8th September 2024, with the parade leaving Haughton Green (Tatton Road) at 12:00pm before making its way to Denton, culminating in a festival in the town centre.  With dozens of entries set to dazzle in to the parade, Denton Carnival promises an unforgettable day of community celebration.

Following the parade, the festivities will continue in Victoria Park and on the Civic Square where Dentonians can enjoy live music and performances, a family funfair and food and drink stalls. Denton hasn’t had a carnival parade since 2019.

Andrew Gwynne MP said: “Denton Carnival was known for its colourful parades, lively entertainment and family-friendly festivities. The pandemic made it impossible to organise for the past few years, and it has taken significant effort for the committee to re-establish itself, find volunteers, and get everything in place. It’s a monumental task, but the community spirit is stronger than ever!”

Earlier this year, Andrew re-established the committee, rallying local businesses and residents to support the revival of this cherished tradition. A core team of volunteers have been busily making arrangements for the day, with a larger group on hand on the day to help ensure the event runs smoothly.

Denton Carnival is organised entirely by volunteers who rely on fundraising and generous donations to deliver the event. If you’re interested in a stall or volunteering to support the event, please email: dentoncarnival@yahoo.co.uk.
