OVER the weekend of November 9 and 10 and into Monday November 11, Tameside’s towns, villages and communities will again be holding services and ceremonies to remember those who fell in the two world wars and many other conflicts.
The Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Betty Affleck, said: “Even though it’s 110 years since the First World War started, and next year will be 80 since the Second World War ended, conflict has returned to Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere.
“For that reason, I believe it’s doubly important we remember not only the sacrifice of those who did their duty in past wars but also the men and women currently serving in UK forces across the world.
“I would strongly urge residents to pay their respects by attending one of the many services and ceremonies taking place across our borough.”
