

March had Ashton Specsavers hosting a special display to celebrate the 40th anniversary iof Hyde Fundraisers. The props and costumes were on display at the Ladysmith Shopping Centre branch and was launched by Miss UK Endeavour herself, Leanne Nuttall and Davros on march 1st.
During the month there was also a visit from R2D2, Stormtrooper, Empty Child, Silurian, Predator and The Joker too as people came along to view K-9, Dalek Sec, The Emperor and Doctor Strange costume on display with themed cutouts supplied by Audenshaw’s Star Cutouts!
During the display there was also a visit by the Deputy Lieutenant Anne-Marie Wynne – Deputy Lieutenants of Greater Manchester assist the Lord-Lieutenant in her duties. They undertake various tasks such as attending all Citizenship Ceremonies throughout the county, making cheque presentations, giving talks and a plethora of other duties as determined by the Lord-Lieutenant.
The group will be in Peterborough on May 3rd as part of a special display that will be featuring some of their props and costumes at the museum in an exhibition titled ‘Adventures In Time & Space’ (peterboroughmuseum.org.uk/events/dalek). They are back in Tameside on July 5th for this years Sci Fi Day which once again is being supported by Ashton Town Team, Arcades Shopping Centre, Tameside Markets and Ladysmith Shopping Centre.
