Sixteen of Britain’s top riders meet on August 1st to race for the title of British Speedway Champion, with two of our local riders expected to be in the line-up.

The National Speedway Stadium at Belle Vue plays host to the event – one of the most high- profile in the UK’s racing calendar.

Charles Wright and Kyle Howarth look set to take their places in the race meeting alongside fourteen other top riders from across the country.   In addition, Kyle’s Sheffield team mate Adam Ellis, is also expected to be in the line-up to defend his title.

Belle Vue Ace Charles topped the podium as the British champion in 2019 and again last year finished in great style with a very creditable third place in the meeting.

Kyle Howarth has had a very good start to the 2022 season for his club the Sheffield Tigers whom he captains in the sport’s premiership league.

Both local riders, who are firm favourites with their club’s supporters race the NSS well and are both very capable of achieving a place on the podium.

A bumper crowd is expected at the meeting, with fans travelling from all over the country to secure a seat in the main grandstand or to stand on the terraces.

In an added boost for the event, this year’s British Final winner is set to receive a wild card place in the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Saturday August 13th – an event which draws a crowd of over 40,000 fans.
