This term, Tameside College’s Computing Hub opened its doors for the first time since the pandemic.

Primary school teachers from across the boroughs of Greater Manchester enjoyed face-to-face teaching at the centre in Tameside One, as lockdown measures eased. The Computing Hub is part of a national chain of training centres aimed at developing IT skills for teachers in primary and secondary schools. Sponsored by the Department for Education, the NCCE computing hub gives teachers access to computer science training to inspire the next generation of students.

Dan Evans, head of computing at Tameside College said: “It is a real privilege to be a NCCE computing hub. Although we have been delivering training online since the launch, we have not had the opportunity to meet our learners. We can now attract teaching professionals from across the combined authority and welcome them to Ashton-under-Lyne. Not only does the computing hub raise the profile of Tameside College but it enhances the reputation of the Tameside borough as a whole.”
