A spectacular day of community celebrations was held at Victoria Park in Denton to honour our armed forces, past and present.

The event, held on 28 June, saw attendees gather for activities, workshops and entertainment to show support and recognition for the Armed Forces community. It featured patriotic performances, cadet workshops and exhilarating activities such as wall climbing.
The day began with a private veteran’s lunch at Denton Civic Square hosted by the Civic Mayor, Councillor Shibley Allam where personal thanks were given to those who have served in the forces.

The annual family-fun day offered a powerful reminder of the importance and dedication of our military services. This year held special significance as it marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War.
Entertainment was also provided with a jam-packed line up of talented musicians and dancers, offering performances to excite and engage the audiences.
Councillor Hugh Roderick, Tameside Council Executive Member (Finance and Resources) and Armed Forces Champion, said: “The great turnout at Armed Forces Day this year shows the incredible gratitude that our communities have towards our Armed Forces. It was amazing to see so many residents in attendance, enjoying the activities and workshops.
“Armed Forces Day is a time for communities to come together and express gratitude for those who protect our country. This day really helps to honour appreciation to the bravery and dedication of our Armed Forces.”
