On August 2^nd film crews desceneded onto The Premier Lounge in Audenshaw for the latest project by filmmaker Peter Hirst who is directing, starring and producing in this latest project from Fortitude productions. We asked what brought him back to Audenshaw..

“It’s the mindset and the mentality. I’ve shot all over the uk, Birmingham, London, you know, all the usual places. I’ve not been anywhere where the people are friendlier, the places are more accommodating. Gary at Premier Lounge, we use him in every production  because of how open he is, because of the locals. Everyone’s just so helpful, willing, friendly, and I just absolutely love that vibe that we’ve got around here.”

So what is this new project you’re doing at the minute?

“So this is a horror film called Thirteenth Hour. It is a psychological horror thriller where a gambler Luke. myself,  loses a deal and makes a deal with the devil to kind of pay his funds back, which  he does by accident and doesn’t realize he’s actually done it until spooky happenings start happening around the house.”

What’s the anticipated release date for this?

“I’m looking towards the end of this year, so November, hopefully December before Christmas.”

You make very varied cast choices as well, because I know in your last project, is it Paul Chuckle you had last time?

“Yeah, we had Paul Chuckle, Pete Bennett, Big Joe Egan, George Newton, we had a decent cast in there, to be honest with you.”

And in the 13th hour, what have you got for that one?

“We’ve got Adam Deacon, a BAFTA winning actor, coming to join us today.

I know his mindset and his attitude, and it will absolutely match the character I’ve lined him up for in this kind of vicious, violent, kind of angry mindset that just goes from being charming to just snapping and attacking me.”

I’m a big fan of letting everyone have a go. I’ve got all the big casting companies and agents, but I absolutely love involving real people.

And there are people here today who’ve never been on screen before and it’s them having an opportunity to do something where they wouldn’t normally get that opportunity.Natural talent doesn’t need an agent, you know, and I want those people to strive and be part of my company.”

BAFTA Winner Adam Deacon was also excited to be joining the project.

“I’m always happy when I’m on set and so whenever there’s work, I’m there and this sounded good. Haven’t done horror for a while and it was, you know, it’s based in Manchester as well and I find that a lot of the stuff I do is always in London and you’re surrounded by London. It’s not that it’s a bad thing, but it’s kind of nice to, to get out your area and meet different people with different accents.

I think horrors lately have really stepped up, and  less about the

 CGI now and more about the kind of, I would say how they done it in the 80s.

The eeriness of a film rather than just seeing ghost made out of cgi, if that makes sense.”

What would your advice be to young actors who are starting out in the business?

“Keep on, you know, be persistent.  Acting is such a up and down profession and I think if you’re a young actor coming into this, I think you need to know that it’s going to be full of rejection. It’s going to be full of getting so close to getting a part, but you don’t actually get it. You’ve got to be able to have the focus and the determination to be able to overcome that and still carry on grinding. Also, I’ll say, write your own work now. Pick up a camera yourself. You know, we live in this day and age where everyone’s got a camera phone, we’ve got YouTube, there’s ways of doing things.

If you’ve got an idea, get it made, you’ll be surprised what can kind of pop off by just doing it yourself.”
