In December About Tameside hosted a competition in association with Cineworld Ashton to encourage photography students from Clarendon Sixth Form College to get snaps of local businesses. The competition co-incided with the annual Small Business Saturday which celebrates independent retail in December every year. It was the job of Warren Brookes, graphic designer from Inflict Design, to choose 4 winners who were revealed as –Shaz Mistry, Alex Doherty, Oliver Edwards and Alex Dixon. The winners received tickets to enjoy a film at Cineworld and there are plans to host another competition of a different theme later in the year.  Teacher of Photography,  Stephanie Parkinson, said “This was a fantastic opportunity for students to work towards a live brief. It was great to see the students get out of their comfort zone and take pride in their work.”
