September 8th was the focus of Denton Carnival, the town’s first carnival parade since the Covid-19 pandemic. The parade set off from Haughton then made its way to Denton, culminating in a festival in the town centre at Victoria Park. Lots of local groups and organisations supported the parade including scouts, Hyde Fundraisers, Gibsons Dance Academy and Ashton’s Christ Church band.
The Civic mayor Of Tameside, Councillor Betty Affleck and Consort Declan Fitzpatrick joined festivities in Victoria Park.
The day looked threatened by heavy rain and winds but luckily the worst abated to ensure the parade went ahead and the fun activities took place.
Denton Carnival is organised entirely by volunteers who rely on fundraising and generous donations to deliver the event.
